In my last blog I told you about the MPDD, an instrument to tell you which muscle causes your pain. But you might have said that doesn’t help me- I have a herniated disc!
My patient this morning said that- his MRI showed the disc and he felt the pain exactly where he thought the disc would be. He didn’t know that in some studies 40% of patients have herniated discs and 70% have degenerated discs and No Pain.
His case was simple- no pain, loss of sensation, or weakness in his leg showed that the disc he had wasn’t the reason for the pain. MPDD found the cause- two muscles, called the Multifidus, deep in his low back. Simple treatment for one week will eliminate the pain he has had for two years.
The MPDD answers the question: what is causing my low back pain? No matter what you think is causing your pain, if it’s not going away it may be caused by muscle(s) that until now have been impossible to correctly identify. More interesting patients to come.
Do you have a nagging pain that doesn’t go away- tell me about it.
