READ ENTIRE LETTER INCLUDING PRECAUTIONS BEFORE ATTEMPTING EXERCISES

We are pleased to provide you with the exercises that we use at the Norman Marcus Pain Institute.  These exercises were developed at Columbia University School of Medicine by Dr. Hans Kraus, President Kennedy’s White House physician for his back pain.  The exercises were created to address any deficiencies noted after performing the enclosed Kraus-Weber Test for strength and flexibility.  Generally, when done properly, most back pain is helped by these exercises.

If you have pain doing any of the exercises do not do them.  If there are tender knots in your muscles you may need additional treatment or medication.  If you have had pain for a long time I recommend that you consider more targeted treatment.  The patients in the Met Golfer article and in the ABC Eyewitness News Piece had pain for months or years and required a muscle softening technique, which has proven effective for more than 20 years, in addition to the exercises, to eliminate their pain.

Before beginning the exercises make sure to review the precautions below for possible serious signs or symptoms that should prompt you to see your physician.  Before you start the test or performing the exercises inform your physician in case he or she does not want you to do these activities.
If you wish to be seen at the Norman Marcus Pain Institute for evaluation and/or treatment call us at (212) 532-7999.

Best wishes,
Norman J. Marcus, M.D., D.A.B.P.M.
